I remember i was working customer service at the time in finance just outside philadelphia. the stock market closed and people were being allowed to go home.
I remember one man called from Califoernia and wanted to do a sale. I said I would enter the trade but it would not be processed until the market reopened. He asked why it was closed. “Because of what happened in New York Sir.”
He hadn’t heard. it must have been 7 am there. for the first and only time in my life I suggested someone sit down and I was the one to break the news to him. I was careful to state only the known facts and warned there were lots of rumrs but that was what had happened.
Soon after that they closed our office entirely. I remember driving home and turned on my radio-i listened to a New York radio show in the mornings. those guys were still on the air trying to keep people calm because they couldn’t leave the studio and no one else could get in.
Valka’s, “It was very off-putting that Canada should have been blamed for letting the hijackers into the US (seriously, Canada doesn’t decide who gets into the US; that’s the US customs agent’s job to decide that).”
People blame everyone eventually. I imagine an Alex Jones type claims it never happened in the first place.
Regardless, most mention of their path of entry is to point out the flaws in the thinking that a wall between the USA and Mexico would keep out Arab Islamic terrorists when they never used that path in the first place. Ideas cross all borders and can be good or bad ideas.

I think I will always remember this day. I was still in bed, asleep, and one of my friends called me to tell me what had happened.

When I saw the “93”, my first thought was of the (thankfully) abortive bombing in 1993.
