I used to be a halfway decent photographer back in the days of light meters 35 mm film and waiting a week to see how the pictures turned out.
I’ve gotten totally lazy now. Point and shoot. Point and shoot. Point and shoot. If you take enough pictures, some of them are bound to come out.
While digital photography has taken the guesswork out of routine exposure, I still have an eye for framing, composition, subject, contrast, lighting, point of view – all the things that make pictures interesting. AI isn’t going to make that happen.
A fair percentage of my pictures are taken while lying on my stomach (worm’s eye view). Also, I don’t think I have many pictures of children where I am not down on my knee at their level. It is important to see the world from their point of view.
I got one of those for Christmas one year, and couldn’t figure out how to use it, it had so many buttons and so much software to learn. Then, after about two years, it was already obsolete because the first smart phones with cameras started coming out. Now, everybody has their digital camera in their phone. Today’s kids probably don’t even know there used to be digital cameras that were just cameras and not mini-computers with phones. Roger’s holding what is already an antique, like VCR’s and rotary dial phones.
