    Our dogs would hear the crinkle of a chip bag, the rip of plastic off a cheese slice or anything else they thought might be edible and spring wide awake and get front and center wanting their share…

    Years ago a columnist wrote about his dog. When the guy got up to make a phone call the dog remained inert. When he got up to get a snack the dog was right there with him. He had no idea how the dog knew the difference.
