As a right-of-center Republican (and shake my head about the current state of affairs in the GOP) the news always seems to report about Republicans who reach across the aisle, but it seems rare that I hear about Dems who do the same. Am I incorrect here?
The saddest thing is that Mr. Trump (and his Russian handlers) have succeeded in having us, the citizens of the United States, fighting each other. And with the severity of the ongoing polarization, I see no end in sight. We’ve forgotten that we’re all Americans, and lost our common cause.
There is common ground but not good common ground. Trump, McConnell and Pelosi are all rich not that helps anyone but them. What we need is a new Congress. All the members who have severed 2 terms or more need to retire.
No common ground around here. Not as long as the GOTP/POT=Teahadists and Party of Trump are running the remains of the republican party. You can never get a compromise when 1 side-GOTP-says to the Dems, this is it. My way is the only way. With no attempt to even hear a proposal(compromise) from the Dems. democracy, it ain’t. What it is ain’t exactly clear but Autocracy seems to be pretty close

Almost all Republicans who would try to find common ground have been purged from the party.
The few that are left, who would be willing to find common ground, are terrified of Trump and being primaried.
.
Courage has never been the strong suit of Republicans anyway.

Common ground is boring and doesn’t give either side the ability to smack down each other.

I believe that if the conservatives won out in the American Revolution then we would still be British citizens.

There are no moderates in the Republican party, even the former extremists are now outclassed who now run it.
