Sept. 9, 1961. Beatnik for person was ‘cat’. Perhaps ‘drags the body across the sky’ is a reference to ancient belief that the sun was carried across the sky by an animal OR that the guy dragging the sun would have a bad sunburn.
I don’t speak beatnik, but I was a child of the time and I know that cat refers to a man (or person), I’m thinking that reddist could mean tired or worn out, and dragging around could refer to a hard day (of work).

Is ‘cat’ hip for ‘dude? Does ’dragging the body etc’ suggest the work day? Interesting to think about
