From a study made far to many years ago, this is the bit I remember; On a freeway, one person hits their brakes(car #1) because a speeder cuts right in front of them. This then causes the person behind(car #2) to also hit their brakes, which starts every other car in that same lane to hit their brakes, one after another. Meanwhile, the speeder is long gone, as are Cars #1 and #2. then over the next several minutes everyone gets back up to speed. Length of time for all to get back up to speed depends on the amount of traffic at the time of the incidence(this very study was cited as the #1 reason why cops in San Antonio Texas started handing out tickets to people weaving in and out of traffic-This happened several years ago when I lived in San Antonio. I noted several months after the LEOs started doing that that traffic became much easier, no start and stop driving because of the idiots in car #1

Got a healthy dose of that on Denver’s I-70 tonight!
I used to live near Chicago. It takes as long to drive across Cook County as it does the rest of the state! Came here to get away from it.
Looks like it followed me.

I’ve found people on the freeways to be friendly, they wave at me. Curiously, they don’t seem to use all five fingers. . . .
