I’ve known several cases of artists who used younger versions of themselves as some type of an alter-ego and I find it interesting that you have something of a role-reversal. When you are together, you become more like the child while Young Amanda is the adult, stern and practical.
I suspect that my younger self would actually be fairly pleased with the way I turned out and the very non-normal life that I’ve had, since I also had an extremely non-normal childhood. It gives me a certain satisfaction knowing that when people ask my parents what I do, they don’t quite know how to answer.

It’s a good thing you weren’t a political cartoonist. There are newspapers that won’t print political cartoons anymore.

I’m sure it was the cross hatching. We need more funny and less political these days, anyways.

Why worry about cross-hatching when you do well with ink washes.
