These kids aren’t too young to learn a bit about finances.

I remember I told my Mom something like that when I was around their age. That’s when I got my first lesson in where money really comes from!

Never had a conversation like this. Started mowing the lawn and taking out the garbage for 25 cents a week at 7 yo. Got my first paper route at 11.

My kids used to think this way as well. I had to explain to them that in order for money to come out of the ATM, I had to put it in there first.

We had a small farm in the family when I was a child, maybe 7 years old. As with all small farms we had a road side stand. Our tiny orchard had pear, peach and apple trees. As they ripened I was paid 50 cents a bushel for every bushel of fruit I picked. That was when I learned money does grow on trees.

When my stepson was about 4 years old he was at the store with his dad (my husband) and they had to put something back as he didn’t have enough money to pay for everything. 4 year old said, “But dad, just give her that card you have!” Hubby had to explain that the invisible money on the card is only limited to how much he had available in the bank.
