Mark probably read the story about Mad Magazine closing down… https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/amp/news/mad-magazine-effectively-close-67-years-1222636
MAD Magazine lost its sense of humor years ago. It died a slow death, after losing the classic “usual gang of idiots” from the 1960s and 1970s. MAD TV was brilliant, though.
Good one, Mr Tatulli! —Are you old enough to remember the Kefauver Committee investigation into Juvenile Delinquency in 1954? Inter alia, they were worried about the corrosive effect of comic books on kids’ morality and behavior? Well, OK, maybe “Tales from the Crypt” and that sort of thing might have warped a few little pink brains, not that it’s easy to see such things as instigating antisocial behavior as such, but as I remember, “Mad Magazine” was singled out as a cause for concern. Satire, you know . . . irony even. Horrible. Perusing a single issue of “Mad Magazine” would undo all the good of a season of “Leave It To Beaver”.

Whatever happened to Alfred E. Neuman? MAD magazine would probably be binned these days.

It’s gone from a mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World to a Sad, Sad, Sad, Sad. World. Too many people now take themselves way too seriously.

Was so sad to hear that MAD Magazine is ceasing production of new material.

Ironic, given the bittern, narrow, humorless partisanship of Tatulli’s tweets.

yuck, just visited their web site. I’m evidently not their target audience.

We could start by not politicizing in the comments or being offended by anything you don’t like instead of just ignoring what you don’t like.

With the current political climate, political humor is dead. The Onion is in danger of going next.

Lio would be right at home in Alfred E. Neuman’s old home magazine. I mourn the loss of the old-time Mad sanity, too….
