Interesting perspectives. I would hate to have a pen or other implement fall off of that desk. If it rolled just a little bit, it looks as though it would be . . . difficult to retrieve.
And it looks like she wanted an enthusiastic crowd at the execution. Probably didn’t want too many people wondering about the severity of the sentence. With several people shouting, it would be obvious that he deserved whatever he was getting. Sadly, some of the non-affected witnesses would probably have joined in and made it quite the spectacle.
Me thinks Flack’s a little full of herself too, so no wonder Mr. Perfect Hair seemed to like her so much—she’s convinced that she’s totally awesome and unlikely to be wrong like he was too.
Unfortunately, UNLIKE Mr. Perfect Hair, she actually has some of the skills needed to back it up. But we’ll see what we can do about thwarting that regardless.
I’m with the mayor in suspecting the spell isn’t as foolproof or failsafe as advertised. It’s powerful, but it’s not exactly subtle, a little straightforward in terms of function, and already seeming to cause worrying trouble for the users than planned.
…at the start of this storyarc, wasn’t there talk about a political rival to the mayor wanting to pass various reforms (namely an end of hanging as capital punishment)? I wonder if that’s the scheme then, to use the mind control to “change the minds” of the mayor’s rivals…

It’s not a problem, obviously. Sharpe definitely isn’t in the building. Certainly no one is unraveling threads of your schemes.
