I don’t understand what he’s saying in the second panel: “Humans have only have 46 chromosomes.” Is that somehow in the past tense?

Interesting factoids: the oldest human fossils we have found date from 200,000 years ago; for penguins it is 50 million years; for hermit crabs, 200 million years. Wonder what it means that the species that has been here the shortest time has the fewest chromosomes?

Was Oliver trying to say Emperor Penguins?

I would hold a mirror up to a hermit crab and say “254 chromosomes and THIS is the best you could come up with? You can’t even make your own shell to cover your soft body!” And penguins, you’re a bird that can’t fly! HUMANS RULE!

Steve only needs to use 37 of his 46, though.
