I happen to be in a job search at the moment. Also in the past, I’ve been a hiring manager. It is amazing the difference in the speed of time on both sides.
On the seeker side, time crawls with the speed of a glacier. On the hiring side, I often wondered if I could get it all done in two months.
Reminds me of last night as I was out at a pub having a burger; four younger folks in their twenties were sitting together around a table, and each of them with their head bowed in worship to their smartphone.
Where my granddaughter lives (Colorado), ‘ghosting’ is a pre-Halloween tradition where you anonymously leave a small white bag of treats at the door of three friends at night (so they find it in the morning) about a week or so before Halloween. The bag has a tag that says you’ve been ‘ghosted’ and instructs you to do the same. It’s fun, especially if you end up being ghosted in return.
Here’s a thought: Keep all your communication face-to-face with the people who are important to you and leave worries about ghosting to Ebenezer Scrooge.

There’s always the old-fashioned GOING TO SEE THEM, but I guess that’s passé.

1. No. Not a chance.
2. Which isn’t even close to the “never” that we’re going for!
3. That should tell you something! What have we learned here?
4. The longest month of your life—-and nothing will change by the end of it!

Ghosting is rude and cowardly. It is just like the old “I’ll call you” and never did. Still rude and cowardly.
