I was thinking “Daylight Saving Time in February? A little early, isn’t it?”, so I checked Wikipedia to see if there was something weird about DST in 1974. It turns out that in 1974, there was a trial run of year-round DST in the United States which began on January 6, 1974 and ended on April 27, 1975 (with a brief period of standard time from October 27, 1974 to February 23, 1975). This experiment was prompted by the 1973 OAPEC oil embargo as a means of conserving energy.
Just a little explanation if you happened to be as confused as I was.

I remember. I think another reason it failed was because parents did not want their kids walking to school in the pre-dawn dark. I was one of those kids. (Oh, this was in a day when kids actually walked short distances instead of insisting on being driven.)

It’s rare to see CB gloating over someone else’s misery.

Snoopy: No one wants to hear you gloat in big words Round-Headed Kid. Charlie Brown: Understandable, so this time, I’ll do my gloating in song!
