My brother and I used to want to hug the tree goodbye before it was taken out to the curb. Afterwards my Mom would take care of the various scratches and punctures because those pine needles really do turn into needles when the tree is dried out!
Still have not finished putting up inside decorations – gave up on decorations for house other than our small tree with minimal ornaments put on Christmas Eve day. But my teddy bear village’s (figurines and small toy bears 3/4 inch to 6 inch tall) changeover to Christmas/winter with small touches of Chanukah had its tree decorated on New Year’s Eve and I still have to put out the bears who come to “see” the parade (as well as most of the parade as only the end of it is set up) and the other bears doing various things around the town to celebrate. There is a large sign near the bears already waiting for the parade – “parade Dlayed untill Mrs. A’s cold goes away” (misspellings are in the sign – bears don’t spell well). (It is a silly thing, but husband and I love this little village which the last 2 years has become year round with different bears and stuff for each season – think a cheap version of those expensive Christmas villages and instead of people, bears in the village.)

Shouldn’t that tree be heading for the attic? That’s a waste of good closet space.

I took down all my Christmas decorations today…except for the tree. Not ready to see that go yet.

Kind of sad that a Christmas memory would be putting a fake tree into a box for storage.

I would have thought they would keep up the decorations until the Epihany.
