I drew this cartoon in the last few days of December, I think. It ran two weeks before my heart quit pumping long enough for me to pass out four or five times before they got me to the hospital. I wound up with a pacemaker. Stupid “chances of staying completely incident-Free”. The “miracle” part was that it first happened as I was driving, and I didn’t drive into traffic when I croaked. I hope you guys enjoy The Buckets, ‘cause I didn’t even miss a week of deadlines. Frank’s in for some excitement, though.

I know that I’m in better than average condition for my age
It’s that for-my-age part that bugs me

My doctor told me that it was their job to get us to 80. After that we are on our own.

Wrong, Pops: The shorter your remaining lifetime, the less likely it is such a miracle will happen before your demise.
