Tomorrow, he’ll learn that he shouldn’t have been standing so close to her.

@Harumph is right. Sinus infections are not contagious.

I can’t make out what Mrs. Olson is saying, other than “thanks”.

First time I heard the word zed, it was from Margaret, an exchange student from Australia who lived with my family for a year when I was in high school. It was fascinatingly logical that a language more or less but not quite my own would have words that were more or less different that meant the same thing as words in my own version of English. And good ones! While zero is a perfectly fine word, zed, with its single syllable and abrupt ending, was perhaps, I had to consider, the better word for the job.

Some 15 years later, I would watch Pulp Fiction and hear the line, “Zed’s dead” and know for sure. A quarter century after that, I would use zed in a comic strip where zero wouldn’t have worked at all, and I think that’s that.

    Zed’s zen, baby. Zed’s zen.

Zed is the letter “z”, not “zero”. At least as far as I can tell.
