Although I do not send Valentine’s cards, I AM a card person. I send friends and relatives birthday and Christmas cards. I send “Get Well Soon” cards, “Congratulations” cards, “Thinking of You” cards, etc. I am assuming that even if people are not card senders, it’s so nice to get a card in the mail these days when everything in the mail consists of bills or 3rd class mail (junk mail). -——Yet, every year, I am receiving fewer and fewer Christmas cards. And certainly none from my kids or people of their generation. For them, social media greetings suffice. What a shame….
I’m part of a card ministry at our Church, so I’ve taken to sending a card most months, to friends and family who are going thru hard times, or that I think a note would be nicely received. Cannot tell you how many times I’ve received a text, call or even a card myself, telling me how much the card I’d sent meant to the person. People like to be remembered and a funny card at the right time, can lighten a bad situation.

Got my wife a birthday card once. After seeing the price, she said that in the future, I should buy her a cider … it would be cheaper.

For a sharp witted, sharp tongued girl. She is learning to bite her tongue when needed. Grandma will get her trained yet.

At least she didn’t say: OK, Boomer…
