I usually love Tia but that was a pretty hard blow. He has to be able to move on at some point. He’s young enough to still have a lot of energy and love to put towards a new relationship. He’s a great father and deserves to be happy in the last half of his life (a good 30 years or so by the looks of it).

That was a low blow even for you, Tia Carmen. And from the look on Sergio’s face he is about to give payback for all the little snippets up to the cutting and hurting comment that he will ever forget his beloved Rosa.

I remember one advice columnist pointing out that wanting to marry after having lost a spouse is a testament to that first marriage. You know how great life with another person can be and you want that experience again.

Having been married for 41 years when my sweetie passed away, I know how great a marriage can be and how devastatingly lonely life can be afterwards. You never forget a loved one. I cheer on every widowed person who finds love again. It’s wonderful to have a life partner.

Wow, we’re about to get a storyline that also includes Tia’s death by the hands of Sergio? Cool!

If I died I would not want my husband to be lonely. Just because one loses a spouse shouldn’t mean they have to stop loving.

The traditional stay married regardless of what it says in the Bible, tile death do you part. Tia Carmen reminds me of the character Ramona depicted in a song by La Sonora Ponceña, “Aunque the vistas de seda y estes a la moda Ramona, jamona the quedaras.” Translation, Even though you may dress in silk and in the latest style Ramona, you will sell be an old maid.

Hmmm, that wasn’t like Tia Carmen but then maybe she’s afraid she will lose her place in his house if he finds another love.

She’s so old-fashioned. By her logic, no one should ever remarry.

You know, I went back and looked. Sergio has never had a ring on. But as a widow I can tell you, it is very lonely.

I lost my first wife about 25 years ago. I have remarried and now have a 19 year old daughter. I love my second wife and want to spend as much time as possible with her. However, I still remember my first wife and miss her.

In Tia Carmen’s world, you keep the Ring on until you have the Replacement Wife 100% Vetted & Approved by the entire family.

He hasn’t even been introduced to a suitable Candidate chosen by any of his relatives yet.

Tia, I know you mean well, but you don’t speak for the deceased. You speak for yourself. That was crossing the line just now.

Let’s hope this is just her initial reaction — or overreaction — and that they will talk it out and she will understand.

Losing a spouse is difficult enough without other people telling you how to live. When my mom died, I supported my dad in everything he tried.
