Man, when I was a kid, the rule was the other way around — I had to do what my brother said, ’cause he was the little one and….

Actually I forget the reasoning behind it.

Mom, I’d like most favored son status.

Today’s cartoon was partly inspired by a situation a friend was in. He was the artist at a screen printing operation. A woman who’d worked there far longer got sick and tired of cleaning the screens and doing work that earned her less respect than my buddy got as artist. So she went to the bosses and claimed ‘Seniority’. The bosses (for whatever reasons) said, “Okay” and swapped their jobs. My buddy was told to go clean screens, and the older employee took his office and computer. …And then had to come get him to ask how to do his job because she didn’t know how to draw or design.

How that story got into my head and ended up with Eddie wanting to be promoted to Older Brother, I don’t know.

As the oldest in my family I can tell you: That doesn’t work!

being an older sibling I can tell you that there were times I got in trouble for my younger siblings bad ideas. Me" but I didn’t do it" Mom: " But you are older and know better" Me " but she doesn’t listen to me".
