Good morning, VB! Jr. was married to Moon Maid. Who was married to Sparkle Plenty?

I thought Ms. Rize was at the Plenty’s on Sunday and exchanged the flour, so why do the Plenty’s still have the “Blow” today.

I believe Jr. married Sparkle after Moonmaid was killed in a car bomb intended for Tracy.

Thank you, I missed several years of Tracy.

Yeah, that’s strange. Seems the Sunday strip jumped ahead in the story, and now it’s pulled back. And it appears now that Junior arrived at the Plentys BEFORE Ms. Rize. ???

Old enough to remember that Sparkle married a cartoonist who drew a strip about invisible Indians (Here and elsewhere, Chester Gould seemed to get a kick out of mocking his own profession). When Collins took charge of the writing he had Sparkle return, divorced when hubby turned out to be a jerk. She fell in love with a hitman who was using her to get close to Tracy, but he was ultimately killed in part because he began to fall for her. Another attempt on Tracy killed off Moon Maid, and eventually Junior and Sparkle somewhat nervously began dating.

The cartoonist was named (believe it or not) Vera Alldid.

Actually, Hot Rize and Earl have just dropped of the replacement flour and are heading back to Flakey Biscuits. Junior was seen in the Sunday trying to get up the nerve to leave the car and see his in-laws to deliver what he is holding. This will become clearer tomorrow.

The reason Gertie has her tongue out in today’s strip is that she is eager to start making biscuits with the good flour that was just delivered to her. She just finished taking a taste to see if this flour is bad like the last bag she had. I think she is happy, because it appears to be OK. It has nothing to do with the ” bad flour” she was tasting in yesterdays strip. (Although her tongue may still be a bit numb). That has all been taken away. Except for that batch of biscuits in the oven….

The Sunday strips will overlap both ways just a bit. They will recap some of the previous week as well as include some information that will be further covered in the following week. This is to make the story coherent to the readers who only get the Sunday strip. The Sundays will also contain material not covered in the weekly strip, or only hinted at, so make sure to read every strip every day. (grin)

Terry, thanks for the explanation! Just so I’m clear, Monday’s strip jumped back to just before Hot Rize showed up to switch out the bags, and now today, Hot Rize and the blow are gone, in time for Junior’s arrival?

If we never get to see Gertie & B.O.’s new baby, I guess there won’t be an Attitude Plenty doll. .

Speaking of babies, what worries me a tad, is how such a young kid - Junior, (in panel 3), has a history of being married TWICE, is the father of TWO girls. one from each marriage, with the first - Honeymoon (Gould era), now likely looking the same AGE as Dad ?

Maybe, he discovered the ‘Fountain of Youth’ ?

The Sparkle Plenty dolls are still around as collectibles - e.g., eBay.

I have a question for Mike Curtis: On October 29th 2010 you draw someting with “Mysta Tracy” :beloved wife & mother” of whom? You didn’t redo that strip on May 3rd 2011.

Maybe Junior has the Dick Clark thing going for him?

Seriously, I’ve known people in their 40’s who looked like they were in their 20’s. Even for myself, I was into my 40’s and people would regularly guess my age as 10 years younger than I was. (Not anymore, though!)

So I suppose Junior’s in his late 30’s, early 40’s, and still looking like early 20’s. If Honeymoon is 17-18, that would work. Hey, in the land of comics, anything’s possible!

Morrow, yes, I don’t see it working any other way according to what Terry said. Gertie studying and tasting what’s on her finger both yesterday and today were apparently two separate events, with Hot Rize coming and leaving in between.

Mike C., can you confirm this?

60sFan: You could be right. I watched an old Mary Pickford silent movie the other day. She was 32, playing an 11 year-old child. Quite convincingly, I might add.

The tot treats dad quite dreadful Tearing hair out by the handful And you can bet that B.O. surely Is glad they’re not short and curly Junior tentatively knocks at the door For him, afraid of what’s in store I don’t think that it’s a stretch To say the child’s looks make you retch Perhaps it wouldn’t be too much to ask If they would cover its face with a mask But mother and father shower it with love For anyone else, they will need a great shove We may never see the little scamps face And if that proves to be the case I think that in the final summation It’s better off left to the imagination.

To Doc1947 The Mysta Tracy tombstone strip will run in August on the anniversary of the death of Moon Maid.

To 60’s fan Rize has come and gone, and the van appears tomorrow.

To those who want a Attitude Plenty doll Maybe if you took a baby doll body and substituted a mop or pot scrubber for the head…..

Well, she is with Earl on the way back to Flakey Biscuits with the “High Yield” flour. (or is that yield a high flour). I wonder what she will do when she discovers that one of the bags has been opened? Maybe we will find out that her temper matches her name.

Think Gertie will offer Junior a biscuit fresh outta the oven?

Will Junior want to stay long enough to have one, with Attitude Plenty mauling BO in the corner..

“Here son, you hold the varmint fer a while”. Junior after eating the biscuit Gertie just handed him, “Huh? Oh.. sure… That would be nice.” (grin)

Hey it may happen that way! Maybe.

Oh, and Junior just looks young, the lucky bas… Hu-hum. I unfortunately started getting a receding hairline before I left high school. Now you will almost never see me in public without a hat.

Honeymoon is adorable. She has her mothers eyes. (grin)

This is date sensitive. Visiting a grave on the day they died. Look for it around the same time this year.

Speaking of date sensitive material. We have something special for DetDanDunn, and all the other men in blue this Sunday, and all of next week. Look forward to it.

Terry Pledger, I’ll be looking forward to it. Ironically I became an official member of the “thin blue line” today.May have to change my prefix to Patrolman. Nah, besides the Det. keeps me focused on future goals.

On the looking younger than your are I’m 36 and people always think I’m 25. My father’s 68 and no one ever thinks he’s over 50. My sister whose 4 years younger than I gets very upset when people ask if I’m her “baby” brother.

It’s hard having the looks and brains of the family….I kid, I kid…
