Zonker: Obviously you don't recognize me, my good man. I'm Viscount St. Austell-in-the-moor Biggleswade-Brixham! Man: I'm sure you are, sir... but, without an invitation, I'm afraid you're just another security risk. Please move on. Sam: But I have to get in, mister, I have to! Man: Indeed. And why would that be, Miss? Sam: I'm destined marry Prince Harry! Man: Well, why didn't you say so? This way, miss! Sam: Yay! Zonker: Huh?

Is he really going to let Sam in?

They’re desperate to get Harry to settle down.
Brer_Rabbit10 over 13 years ago
Well, VistaBill, that may NOT be the way to the wedding…

I have a feeling this is not going to end well.
Probably being escorted to a detention area to be held with some of the (other?) loonies.
ARF2 over 13 years ago
“I’m with her” will probably work, especially if Alabama_Al is right.

vanpelt said, “That’s “yea”, not “yay”. I’m really tired of that misspelling.”
Same here.

Detention and interrogation?

She should be fast tracked. It’ll take a lot of work undoing generations of inbreeding. Harry ended up being a little too “pure” (hence the swastika armband and German outfit “gag”), even though his mother was a commoner (albeit, a very uncommon one).

Sam saves the day,,,, for her at least. Zonker will have to hear about it second-hand.
Dragoncat over 13 years ago
Is “Phase One” of Sam’s plan complete? Or will she be placed with all of the OTHER young ladies destined to marry Prince Harry?
Either way, she’s having way better luck than Lord Zonker.
cdhaley over 13 years ago
With that frumpy dress, Trudeau unerringly captures the dowdy style of English matrons (and even turns Sam into one of them). That’s why Sam got in: she looks like a royal’s girlfriend.

Merriam Webster:
Definition of YEA
1: yes —used in oral voting
2 : more than this : not only so but —used to introduce a more explicit or emphatic phrase [yet the impression, yea the evidence, is inescapable — J. G. Harrison]
Yay isn’t an incorrect spelling of yea, it’s a homonym. It’s the correct word in the context of this strip.

I think it’s the hat. The hat got her in.
Oh, and the online World English Dictionary gives this definition of the word “yay”: interjection, informal: an exclamation indicating approval, congratulation, or triumph

^ Yea! I’ll accept that!

I’m with Dragoncat…I bet there’s a special section for young ladies who’d like to marry Harry….

Sam is going to be put with all the other girls who are destined to marry Prince Harry.

serves her right for showing up with a vice count.
Justice22 over 13 years ago
If Zonker doesn’t watch it, he’ll be down for the full “Count”.

Right this way miss, to the room where security personnel interview obsessed fans.

oh, they’re all reversed. Phui!!

Oh, yea, @dohany, indeed, it’s the hat. I knew it the instant I set eyes on it. Takes a special talent to achieve that frumpy dowdiness (or dowdy frumpiness). I could never do it myself. But when it’s done in an absolutely first-class manner, don’t-ya-know, I can at least recognize it.
