A trouble with universal remotes is that specialized gadgets have special operations (such as “eject” for a DVD player), and — even if you can assign such operations to buttons on the remote — there’s no way to label them as such.
About 20 years ago I picked up a Sony Disc Carousel with space for 400 DVD/CD. The remote handles the TV, the player and the sound system and the sound system is not all Sony, nor is the tv. It does not handle the Blu-Ray not the DVR, but it does cut the number of remotes. We tried a universal remote made by Jasco under the GE label. Avoid it and any other universal remote because they are not.
