As a teen, I babysat for a family with a Great Dane named Sheba. She took a liking to my lap as well and at 5’2”, I was overwhelmed. She was a sweetie, though. :D

I think up to 20 pounds still counts as lapdog. At least that’s what my dog says.

My son’s 130 pound great dane thought he had the perfect lap. ‘course the boy only weighed 84 pounds at the time.
The dog learned to turn around and just sit her butt on his lap.

I know a St. Bernard who thinks he’s a lap dog. I also have had a German Shepherd get into my lap.
