Waste not want not. And given what they paid her, if she wasn’t going to ‘want’, she needed to sneak all the scraps she could get her hands on. And some ‘pre-scraps’ as well – items that hadn’t had a chance to become scraps (since they hadn’t been served yet)

Mary took a swig of the Master’s wine. It was Wednesday. That meant that Mistress was out at her bridge game. And that meant that Master would strip to his underclothes and try to cop a feel again. She needed more wine.

At last, he had come, the lover of whom she had dreamed. This would go well. After all, she was all in clover—she had “love potion number 9” on her side, and she would make him drink as well!

Elsa never did learn how to balance a flute on her nose, but as long as there was bubbly in the bottom of the glass she practiced with the passion of a zealot.

Had a set of 4 Tiffany glasses like that. (Received them as a gift.) I finally donated them them to a group called Cats Unlimited. They would sell the items to help raise money to sterilize feral cats. A few months later My girlfriend comes home carrying my glasses and says, “Look at these cool glasses I bought from Cats Unlimited.” (Those glasses are a bit** to clean, by the way.)

Ok, I have to tell one more. I was a room service waiter at the Hyatt House back in the 70’s. I was on the morning shift. At the end of our shift we had to go around the hallways and clean up the dishes etc left outside the rooms. Often, there were entire bottles of booze, champagne and wine left by guests. Many a time my coworkers and I came back to the kitchen with a serious buzz on.

It seems that the sprightly young maid/ from the straight and narrow hath strayed./ The dregs of each flute/ that she pours " down the chute"/ will end up getting her laid.

has the prior (my comment there included same artist info URLs, the 2nd of which may be unresponsive).

Lines Written Upon a Car Insurance Bill/ The ancients viewed Time as a god, with wings/More moderns measured Time with metal springs./Time is a concept made by group consent/ and many wonder “where the time has went?”/ And, when the Muse upon me sudden springs/ impelling me to write these silly things/ She lures me with the rhythm and the rhyme/ and frequently I lose all track of Time./ A simple Limerick to start the day/some doggerel to speed you on your way/ and, possibly, a sly “de-nou-e-ment”/ and, if YOU like it, then MY Time’s well-spent !
