Been in a similar situation. Sitting in a deck chair on the grass lawn when a tiger snake came up from behind and slithered between my feet. Yes I sat very still, but I felt my heart was going to explode from the adrenaline rush. After the snake had continued on and I could move, took about 30 minutes to settle down, I felt I could have run 20 miles. Only other time I have felt such adrenaline was when I did a Bungee jump in New Zealand.
While seining to document minnow species in a lake, I saw a monstrous water snake swim towards me. He dove about 10 feet away and all of sudden, I felt and saw him swim between my legs. If I could have walked on water, that would have been the time.
Conversation overheard in a campsite near the bottom of the Grand Canyon: I saw a scorpion crawl into your sleeping bag last night; but he crawled back out.
My younger brother had a pet boa for 35 years. He was a year older than my eldest son, and passed away just last year. RIP Phred, you influenced your 4 human cousins and brother, and taught them about tolerance. Two became biologists, one specializing in herpetology; though her master’s study was of salamanders not snakes.

Those look like fangs in the third panel. Pretty good incentive. However, I could never have gotten into that position if my life depended on it.

Read “The Dinner Party” by Mona Gardner. A fitting and proper short (very short) story reference.

The Fat Broad would have bashed the snake.

Tying yourself is a knot is not a good idea. I wonder if snake yoga will become a thing?
