I was several yards away from a lightning strike once. It does more than tickle.

This reminds me of a scene in a Shirley Temple movie were she was riding in a private airplane. They ran into a storm and the pilot decided to bail out. He told Shirley to hang on tight to his neck, while he held her snugly against his body, and they parachuted through the clouds. When the reached the ground, she turned to him and smiled. “That was fun. Can we do it again?”

The Earth, being more powerful than Broom Hilda, is no one to tease.

Last time I flew the plane, last year in the spring, I was on a jet that was struck by lightening as it was descending to prepare for landing. It struck right outside my window. What was really cool, was the way it wrapped around the wing. Lots of people were freaked out. Apparently, they don’t know planes are made to handle being struck by lightening.
