Opal probably uses one of those spring fresh dryer sheets as well.

If its a cold day, you can always stick your hands under the dryer vent to warm up a tad.

Global warming.

They are used to keep mice out of a stored car!

When walking outside you can smell those in use from a great distance ! Reminds me of someone who fell into a perfume or cologne bottle ;-)

I actually like those smells from the dryer vent. You don’t want to smell it too long though. :-)

Way to ruin things, Opal!

Ours vents out to a deck (yeah, dumb) but it does keep the area warmer in fall if I have it running.

I hate the smell of dryer sheets.

The stifling aroma of them used to waft heavily from the place next door, for days at a time….

sometimes all the way into my windows.

The woman who lived there was very nice…

One day I asked her what brand of fabric softener she used…

I didn’t say I didn’t like it… only that I could smell it when she did laundry.

Turned out she didn’t have a washer or dryer, and did her laundry at the laundromat.

But she told me she kept several dryer sheets in the vacuum cleaner bag…

it was some household hint she’d read for making your house smell “clean” when you vacuum….

(and apparently for perfuming the whole neighborhood for days afterward.)

More recently, I filled out a survey about laundry products…

it asked whether my current detergent had enough scent, too much, or too little.

I always think any is too much.

I must be in the minority…

Since then, they’ve come out with scent “boosters” …

They’ll perfume away any whisper of actual freshness that your detergent would have left in your laundry…

and make it all reek of artificial flowers, or maybe phony “sea foam” or somebody’s idea of “spring rain.”

Ain’t that the truth.

When my neighbor dries clothes I can smell the nauseating scent in my house….ugh

Scents from laboratories…

When I was a little girl, my father was an oilfield mechanic, and we lived in a trailer and followed the oil boom all over the western US. I can remember when it was cold weather, we kids used to sit and play outside the laundry room at the trailer park where the vents from the big commercial dryers blew out. It was warm and cozy even on a very cold day.

Artificial scents have always been problematic. I’m reminded of the line in “The Boys In The Band” (1970) occurring after a guest at the party is sick in the bathroom: “Before it smelled like someone puked. Now it smells like someone puked in a gardenia patch.”

Wife is badly allergic to perfumes, so always buy the white carton of Tide

Proof that venting is therapeutic.

Who wouldn’t like the smell of the sea when you don’t live by the sea?

Any deodorizing product that leaves a scent is clearly not doing its job. You know what smells good? Clean. No spray or wall plug-in works as well as housecleaning. It’s a terrible, terrible truth.

That is what I smell when dryer is running from the fumes from the dryer exhaust.

I like to play Pokémon Go at Keene State College. One of the paths I take goes by the laundry house where there are ten dryer vents all in a row. Saturday is laundry day when all ten dryers are running at the same time, and standing close to those vents is like standing in a field of flowers.

Today is trash day here………a little different scent to the air. I’m staying in.

As a kid I would love to stand right in front of the dryer vent while it was 9n. Especially on cold days.

About the only place you can reasonably expect to smell fresh air.

on my way home from grade school we passed a vanilla factory that had an exhaust fan blowing toward the side walk and we used to stay there and smell.

Ben is right. I can ride by a laundromat and smell the dryers working. Nice.
