I have a brother-in-law who is not so very different from Andy Capp. The biggest difference is that he is real. Unfortunately he has been infected with the coronavirus and is now in serious condition in hospital. His wife, my wife’s sister, is also infected and is showing many symptoms. We fear she may end up in hospital, too. Their eldest son is also infected. He has a very pregnant wife and we are all hoping that she is not infected.
The point of my comment? The virus is very real and very dangerous. My sister already lost a close friend in NYC back in the spring. We are in Germany where the response to the virus has been much better. But even here, the virus is spreading due to complacency and many people not knowing how to protect themselves and others properly. My brother-in-law and sister-in-law became infected and then spread the virus because they did not take it seriously enough and then did not understand how spreads and that they have responsibility to protect others.
Their complacency and ignorance has caused dozens of people to need to test for the virus, several already confirmed, and als several teachers to have to quarantine and classes for probably over 100 children to be cancelled. There are also several people in their 80’s and 90’s who may have been infected as well. They are at greatest risk if they get the virus.
We still love them and are praying for their recovery. This made clear how dangerous the virus is, how quickly it spreads and that complacency and ignorance are the main reasons it spreads.
My family is are safe. We have been much more vigorous in taking precautions. My sister-in-law knew that and did not come visit us on my birthday last week. Instead she left a card and delivered it wearing a mask. She did not wear a mask to visit the 3rd sister, who also has been complacent. This has been a huge wake up call to everyone.
Wow! Amazing! The challenge is that people don’t always consider that their freedom ends where it impinges on others…the virus is so mercurial in symptom, spread and severity that wisdom would seem to err on the side of caution and good will seems to call for consideration of others. Prayers and best wishes for your family “Imagine”
If Andy were a fan of Ludwig like Bob (and Schroeder), I think his favourite composition thereof would have to be the Ninth… being joyful that Bob is gone.
I was thinking about Lady Shades the other day. I recall her saying that she lived in Denmark. Is that right? I was there last year and it’s beautiful. I visited Skagen which is famous for the watches and timepieces.
Anyway, I have a feeling that she is no longer with us, otherwise she would have made another account and posted here. But I’m hoping that she’s well and just busy with her life and family and has simply forgotten about GoComics but it’s unlikely.
Sorry to be all doom and gloom, pal. Enjoy your favourite nosh and I’ll see ya Monday!

A really good guitarist can play almost any kind of music. I have my doubts about Bob.

And then there’s those who are only interested in the fifth (or pint).

Classical music performed correctly: Keith Emerson plays Bach backward on his Hammond!

I love classical music too. In fact I appeared twice on a radio station called “Classic FM” as a phone in!
Wasn’t actually at the studio but it was still a great experience.

You’d think someone with such good taste in music would be a better musician.
