I’ve never understood staging your house when you put it on the market. If a buyer can’t see the potential without the staging then maybe they shouldn’t be buying a house.
I don’t understand why staging works. It makes absolutely no sense. However, there is no doubt that it does. In fact, if you do not do it your house will not sell. Crazy.
Well, when we were looking (back in another lifetime) we looked at some homes that weren’t “staged”. Trying to tell how big a kids bedroom was, for example, without seeing the corner floors was difficult, since the actual measurements aren’t as useful for me as the visuals. We didn’t say anything, but the realitor showing the house was FUMING. I saw a small house a busy family with many small kids was trying to live in, though. So, I didn’t get upset. But, it WAS more difficult for me to envision the house as MY home.
My brother spent hours and $$$ getting his house ready for sale. The realtor told him he would have to have the light oak cupboards in the kitchen painted white. I begged him not to since they matched the built ins in the dinning room and family room. But he did. He sold to a family who had never seen the inside of the house.
go back to the models. Not only are the clothes on professionals those final pictures are changed quite a bit. Lighting is enhanced, limbs are stretched, wrinkles and stray hair removed, twinkle added to eyes, skin tones altered, etc. And don’t get me started on magazine photos of food!

She either has lots of money or is deeply in debt.

In the catalogs, the clothes on the models have been tucked, pleated and taped into position so make them look tailored.

The definition of “Professional” is “you get paid to do it.” So maybe if she raised his allowance…

Kids have no governors on their tongues. Frazz is wise back off while kid is airing out mom’s closets.

Don’t need staging. Just clean and declutter a bit. I sold in one day in a bad market.

Clean the place up, eliminate clutter and put a loaf of bread in the oven. Sells in a day. At least my home did.

There’s also that RA drug commercial with “take your daughter to work day” with the family living in this all-white, sterile-looking house – ugh…
