Shades of the Wizard of Oz movie. There`s a cut scene where they`re attacked by Jitterbugs sent by the Witch just before she sends the Monkey King and his people to gather Dorothy and Toto. Until I learned about that scene, the Witch`s line “I’ve sent a little bug ahead to soften them up.” always puzzled me. If you haven’t guessed, Jitterbugs make you involuntarily dance. There’s old black and white footage of the cut scene.
Remember Don Knotts in the old Steve Allen “Man on the Street” as K B Morrison the jittery explosives expert? Steve would ask him what the K B stood for. Answer “Kaboom”!

Had a buddy that was EOD in Korea. Sneak up behind him and yell boo and it was all four feet on the ceiling.

In Britain during the Blitz, the German V-1 flying bombs were called “doodlebugs”, due to the buzzing sound their engines made.
