I’ve done a few cartoons over the years with this theme. Summed up by paraphrasing Douglas Adams: “Anything invented before we’re born is good and correct. Anything invented before we’re twenty is new and sexy and we can probably get a career out of it. I recall having a “discussion” with an elderly gent about language. His position came down to American English was what he was taught in grade school (pre-WW1). I pointed out that as an IT person, 90% of my work vocabulary was either new or repurposed. He also thought computer were abominations.
