My spouse wears shorts year around — in Colorado — because long pants have gotten “too long.” Like many somewhat ‘rounded’ individuals, as he has aged, his waistline has dropped and his inseam has shortened. I have a similar problem, but slacks for women come in many lengths and styles — leggings, harem pants, culottes, cargo, toreador, and cropped, to name a few.
As a crossing guard, when a particular student came through my intersection, this was how I knew when it was REEAAALLLY cold . Although I did not need him to figure that out.
That would be my younger stepbro, who’s 50 & wears shorts in all kinds of weather. In my experience, shorts in winter are a young dude thing. Almost all the pluggers I know wouldn’t be caught dead in shorts, even on the hottest summer days!

Pluggers of the southwest wear shorts year round at any rate. Many areas where there’s no snow! ;D

That makes my grandson a plugger. You can’t get that kid into long pants.

Maybe David Iannuzzi meant boxer shorts? Because I’m a bit skeptical about this.

Normal Michigan winter gear, but we wear black socks in winter, white is for summer. Gotta be able to see your feet.

Those few that wear shorts up here are usually … um… heavier. And it’s not exclusive to pluggers.

Seems to be a common occurrence in Scout Troops, both Scouts and leaders…

Not if it’s cold and snow country. Pluggers have enough sense to dress warm when outside; unlike the young kids

This plugger wears shorts in the comfort of home only. I need to go out someplace further than my yard, the long pants replace the shorts.
