The first test hurdle for a kid….tying shoe laces!

There’s one bad thing about running in the grass: hidden dog poop.

Ma always said she knew it was spring when she’d find my shoes and socks out in the yard somewhere.

Time to go with the Velcro traps.

I could not tie my shoes until sometime around when I started high school. My mom would tie my shoes – but then they would open during the day – let alone when I went to camp (one of the biggest tortures invented to do to children) and had to change for going in the pool. I learned to stick the laces into my shoes so I did not trip on the laces. I still do this sometimes when I don’t want to take the time to tie them or know I will need to take them off shortly after putting them on or we are outside (I remember being outside) and they untie and I have no place to sit down and tie them – I can stick the end of the laces into the shoes while standing.
