Use to love fireworks and blowing things up no more I see what it does to animals and I refuse to contribute to that type of terrorizing experience for them .

I do not like them much, but recognize that, as long as is not illegal in town, they have the right. But seriously, from 10 pm to 3 am? I’d like to aim a Roman Candle where it would do the most good.

I remember ER rotations on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of July. Lots of stupid people leaving with a new nickname of “Lefty.”

I have neighbors who think it’s their job to blow up the world on the 4th. I truly thought last year my house was going to be damaged. I was a wreck, my “retired” hunting dog who had no fears of noise due to training with shotguns was terrified. It went on and on and on for hours. When I went outside I found out they had put all their crap on our lot line and had aimed their explosives towards my house. Not towards theirs. This year, I will leave my own home on the 4th for peace of mind and to not terrify my dog or myself. Once it starts, we are out for our volunteer work until midnight. Our city at least has rules. And no, I don’t complain to them other than ask them politely kindly to clean up all the garbage they left all over my backyard, roof, patio, front yard, and my street, and asked them not to aim their fireworks at my house next time due to risk for fire. Thousands of explosions, smoke all over, windows rattling. It has nothing to do with independence of our country for them. They like to set off explosives all year, but can’t overdo it any more due to the new restrictions. I already have PTSD and my dog now does too. Before she was fearless.

Over the years I’ve enjoyed the events put on by the city, and, as a kid I enjoyed setting off firecrackers under cans. Roman candles were fun unless they exploded and ripped off a hand. Thankfully fireworks are now illegal in all but one city around here. With the drought, the risk of fireworks starting a fire is huge. Unfortunately, a lot of non-profits made their operating expenses each year selling safe and sane fireworks and the moratorium has hurt them.

Considering the trauma would be on the evil Yorkies – I’m good with it.
