I thought the Poulan Weedeater Bowl (formerly known as the Independance Bowl) in Shreveport was pushing the envelope 10 or 15 years back. Now it is almost like a mid tier bowl compared to some of the newer ones that pop up matching 6-6 teams…..
The big question is will this finally give Boise State a legitimate chance at the national title or will they just jury rig this to keep them out in favor of the Power Five conferences yet again?
It’s all just the BCS, no matter how many teams there are, as long as there is a selection committee and teams are in based on ranking. You want conference play to matter and be able to call it a real playoff, then you have to have the conference champions playing each other. If you think some conferences (NFL East bother you?) aren’t strong enough, then re-align the whole damn thing into 8 conferences of 12 teams each and they all a) play 9 game conference game schedules and b) play their other 3 games are from the other 7 conferences.
Not that difficult, but not as lucrative as having a bunch of meaningless exhibition games that are only different from preseason NFL football in that the players aren’t getting paid.

Will this increase college quarterbacks players chances of getting into the pros?

There are, I think 11 conferences in the NCAA that play.
Conference winners make the playoffs, get a first-round bye.
Next 10 teams, including independents (sorry, Notre Dame), play a wild card round.
Winning 5 teams go on to the next round.
16-team single-elimination tournament ensues.
Rose, Cotton, Sugar, and Orange Bowls get the best games, in this rotation:
