Caveman tech… The artist has evolved these guys through eons of progress since the writer first described them.

I’m guessing it’s a giant squid that’s been kidnapped (squidnapped?) from its natural habitat. Our buddy, Tarzan, is gonna out with his knife and make him some calamari!
