The British government has put together a committee to consider the rights and feelings of sentient animals, including lobsters. Methinks there are a considerable number of eccentric people in the British Isles.
Actually, this happens fairly often. Whenever they pick up an oddly colored lobster (blue, rainbow, yellow) or an unusually large lobster, someone volunteers to adopt it (usually for the publicity).

Just don’t put it in the ocean. Anywhere but where it came from and it becomes an invasive species. We had that happen a few years ago in Puget Sound.
