I really can’t drum up too much sympathy for Peter. If, by now, he doesn’t know better than to leave such a tape where Jason can get his hands on it then he deserves whatever happens.
I had a classmate in my college adolescent psych class who said he wanted to be in an airplane crash… he didn’t want to die, he wanted to have the experience. Fortunately (I think) he didn’t and went on to found a hospital in Nigeria instead.
Were a lot of teenagers listening to Springsteen in 2000? I remember a Bloom County cartoon from well over a decade before this strip in which it was suggested that it was dads who were Springsteen fans, not their kids (who apparently were devotees of that notorious comics band Billy and the Boingers).
Only once was I annoying on purpose for a school project. My sociology prof assigned us to do something unorthodox and gauge reactions. I sat next to students I didn’t know, leaned in real close, and asked a lot of personal questions.
Turns out few of my classmates actually did the homework, or at least few were willing to share. Mine got chuckles, and the prof wished I’d done it for longer.

No, let’s not, Jason. You can’t take hints of your older siblings’ anger towards your antics using their thing s without permission.

This could go beyond near death.

And remember, this is for posterity, so be honest.

Actual death will shorten your experiment.

Brother borrowed a tape from a friend with a movie on it and it wasn’t Read Only. He accidentally taped over it, LOL!!

Jason’s life as the youngest in that family is a near death experience.

At least Jason sure is creative and hands-on for this project.

I would find anything on the weather channel more interesting than Springsteen. Literally anything.

What Peter doesn’t realize is that Paige already had taped Dawson’s Creek over the Springsteen.

If Jason wants near-death experiences he could ask Peter to drive him somewhere.

He can title his report “Nearer My God to Thee”.

About all that Springsteen’s good for.
