Is that supposed to be “the talk”? I never understood what adults are afraid of. Sex is nothing to dread, abuse is.

Teach kids to respect other people’s will and fears and to demand others to respect theirs. Most importantly teach them the sanctity of mutual consent and mutual responsibility.

And they need to understand that actions have consequences. So they need to learn that intimacy may cause pregnancy and that will impact their and others whole life then on. And so may do STDs.

If you don’t want your kids to drown teach them how to swim and to reach their limits from the safe side, not teach them fear of water bodies.

I like Star Wars and Star Trek. They are like two unmixable flavours of ice cream that each have their good points and areas in need of improvement, like wasabi and black liquorice.
