No contest. Candy corn is an abomination.

You should listen to fruitcakes. They are generally very old and have lots of history to talk about.

The fruitcake jokes are starting early this year. I blame global warming.

What’s the thing on the left supposed to be? Fruitcake? But no one hands out fruitcake on Halloween.

I used to like candy corn as a kid, for no other reason than that it came pre-marked with its own portion sizes. Now it’s atrocious.

Fruitcake, on the other hand. The only edible examples I have had were host-made for the occasion. Anything in a box was best left for the rats.

I personally don’t get the love-of-fruitcake thing, but …

I really think there are people who really really like each of them. Some even like both.

I love fruitcake. The hate of it comes from people buying the cheap ones in the grocery stores that are dry, and have very little fruit in them. A quality fruit cake, whether home made or store bought is absolutely delicious, but it is going to be pricey. I bought one of the nicest ones I’ve ever had last night. it weighs under a pound and cost almost $20 but it is delicious, moist and full of fruit, and not just raisins like the cheap ones. It was soaked in 12 year old whiskey. Note the best fruit cakes are always soaked in some type of alcohol, ideally for a couple months or longer.

I love them both. What is funnier than this comic strip is the tendency of humans to group-think and change their opinion to match that of a celebrity or stand-up comedian.

My brother and I used to fight over candy corn. Maybe it was better in the 60’s

I found Alton Brown’s Free Range Fruitcake from his Good Eats series to be excellent. https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/free-range-fruitcake-recipe-1926833 The recipe is very forgiving so you can make changes to suit your personal taste. I add chopped figs and dates, and changed rum to brandy and apple juice to cider or hard cider.

My recently deceased wife “liked” one type of fruitcake but it was very hard for us to find. I used to like the candy corn made from honey not “sugar” because you could taste the difference. But that was the things that made us a good couple we didn’t always like the same things but we didn’t criticize the other because they liked or didn’t like something. I guess that would be why we were married for 34 years and headed for many more.

Fruit cake is my all time favorite Holiday food. Reminds me of a very happy moments in my childhood.

I don’t get why anyone would like candy corn. I remember a high school teacher who munched on them all year long. I guess some people like them or they would stop making them.

What about a fruitcake with candy corn in it too?

Mold, true. M&Ms, I’ll take 10 loves. Nothing will ever help Candy Corn, except maybe a coal replacement to generate electricity.
