I just got over a bout with vertigo. The way to tell which ear was affected, was to sit on the bed such that your head would be over the edge when you were horizontal, turn your head 45 degrees to one side, and lie back quickly. If you became disoriented within 30 seconds. that was the ear. If not, do the whole thing again, tilting your head 45 degrees to the other side. The “cure” was just as fun.
