What a killjoy! My sister hasn’t taken her tree down for nine years. She lights it many a night, and it’s lovely no matter the season. Happy holidays, all! :-D

Leave it at least through Boxing Day Henry!

Religious people celebrate the 12 days of Christmas until Epiphany but since the Captain Henry only celebrates ‘X’ mas he still has to wait 10 days after X mas. (X means 10 in Roman numerals.)

Day after New Years is our tradition

Since childhood, our take-down day has been January 6 (Epiphany). My parents always made it a kind of party complete with cookies and snacks. We said goodbye to each ornament for the year. It was a great tradition and a great way to get six kids to help.

My family tradition was: Put it up the first Saturday in December. Take it down the first Saturday after the first Sunday in January. ( First Saturday in January, unless Jan 1 is a Saturday")

When I was growing up, we always put our decorations up on December 23, and took them down on January 6.

Some traditions have the decorations remain up for weeks after Xmas. Afterall, Xmas is an ongoing affair. And, technically, the Magi haven’t arrive yet, coming when the Holy family moves from the stable to the house.

We usually put up decorations a week or so before Xmas and take them down a few days after. No use depriving ourselves of the seasonal festivities …

Henry was just trying to clean up to avoid a bigger mess later on. The group should get over it and chill, especially fatso Nate who can stick those swords somewhere else.

We have a 20 footer on the front lawn that came with the house. It ain’t going nowhere. Our indoor will stay up until at least Twelfth Night (Jan 8) and some years we have waited until February. Wanna make something of it?

We used to pack the kids into the car on the 26th and head off to the grandparents house (400 miles away) and stay for several days. There was no way I wanted to leave a potential fire hazard in the house while we were gone so traditionally we took the tree down on Christmas afternoon.

I know of a local restaurant that has a Christmas tree up in their foyer 24/7, for the past several years. It seems excessive, but actually it’s kind of nice.
