Turns out it was actually the “Wayback Machine” and Verne was transported to the last time a cow fell on him. He pushes his prior self out of the way, the cow falls on his future self, then the cow and Verne return.

First thing I thought of was “It looks like a bigger version of Calvin’s transmogrifier.” I just can’t see anyone in ‘Hi and Lois’ using a cardboard box as a major plot device, but then I quit reading that strip when I got to be a few years older than Chip, so that’s been about a half-century. Maybe it’s changed.

He needs to grab the booze from Andy Cohen’s bar before he starts serving shots.
