The flag is nice. I’ve even pledged allegiance to it and to the Republic for which it stands.
But my patriotism is not based on the flag, it is based on the Constitution and its shareholders who are stated in the first three words of the document: “We the People” and interestingly, these words are written bigger and bolder than any other words therein.
I’ve pledged my allegiance to the flag; I’ve pledged by soul to the Constitution in the form of an oath that started with “I do solemnly swear to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC …” and ended with the words “So help me God.”
I will reconcile both loves when we truly do have “Liberty and justice for *ALL*”
