He sure took a wallopin’ to the brain, it’s a surprise he recovered so well to be up to what he has done lately. He better load up on them vittles pro-vided by the neighbors as he is in for a long session with “the boys”.
TRACY: The power of AM radio, Sam. The power of AM radio. I just tuned him in to the All Chipmunks station when they we doing their tribute to Tiny Tim. Nations have crumbled for less.
They’ve got a judge who’ll do anything the police ask if s/he issues a warrant based on that grainy ATM video. (Some judges don’t issue warrants without impossible levels of evidence, some will issue them if an officer says, “I had this dream last night Joe was guilty.”)
Tracy and Sam go a calling on Memory…he’s not home right now…but they could leave a message with Walter. On second thought considering what B.O. Plenty encountered with the owl, might stake-out his place until he returns.
Now as the bank hacking matter…might be an inside job. One of those bankers is ripping off the competition and the bank he is associated with. Can’t make it seem like favoritism…would arouse suspicion.
Although it was just a flashback to the TV pilot, I enjoyed the action of the last couple of days. It is much better to see the action than have it described to me by talking heads.
I laughed out loud at the obviously 1960s-technology computer in this strip—the history of Dick Tracy and Mr. Memory must go back a long way—but then I decided I should research the pilot you all have been jabbering about, specifically https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-H68nMnoIs . Shelley’s first panel here is an excellent composite rendering of the video action from 26:04 to 26:11. And the pilot was made in 1967, so, yeah, that’s the right era for that sort of computer. Brava!
And I thought Mr. Memory, as portrayed since May 23, seemed vaguely familiar, but I couldn’t quite place him. But now it’s all clear: Victor Buono, of course! A charming actor in his day.
A little more reminiscing back to the Mr. Memory Story, The Pilot for a Show That Never Was, and then Chief Patton phones in that Tracy has got his warrant.
Flag speed, Mr. Catchem! Let’s get this show on the road!
1-DT: So Memory was an old hippie who wore a headband and prided himself on the prog rock and deep cuts he listened to on an elaborate FM Radio he made that brought in all the pirate stations. SO, I knew if I tuned into the drive-time J Puzzle Whiz Top 10 Hit Parade on WAKY Radio and cranked it up he would blow a gasket.
2-CHIEF ON WRIST RADIO: CALLING DICK TRACY!
DT: Deek Tracy is no here, seen-yor. Hee hee.
CHIEF: WHO IS THIS? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH TRACY, YOU FIEND!
DT: Nothing seen-yor. You have called the wrong number. CHIEF: OH! Sorry. I’ll try again.
SAM: Tracy, you dog!
CHIEF: CALLING DICK TRACY!
DT: Herro? No Dick Tlacy. You make long numba, Joe.
CHIEF: DAMMIT! WHAT’S LONG – I MEAN WRONG WITH THIS THING!!!

Well,it’s a cinch Memory can’t outrun the cops. And his car is a slow clunker.
And no place he can lose himself in a crowd. His only defense is technological. And throwing Gertie’s “turnip surprise” in Tracy’sface.
