My kids know that if they bug me like this, the answer is automatically NO (or the opposite of whatever it is they want). It doesn’t really matter what they are asking. They have learned to be patient while I make my decision, though they are allowed to add reasonable arguments to my deliberations. It worked at a surprisingly young age, too.
