    I would hate to hear Bob play the Jimi Hendrix cover of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

    Happy 244th anniversary of British treason, my fellow, Americans.

    The flags on the outside of the building are hung wrong. The star-field ALWAYS goes in the upper left corner. But then, this is jolly old G. B. so…

    A co-worker once told me the British also celebrate July 4th, but they call it “Good Riddance Day.”

    I wonder who is speaking from outside the panel in the last frame. Is Andy finishing his earlier remark or is Jacko replying to Andy? If Jacko is speaking, it shows that he shares Andy’s feelings about Guitar Bob and is employing him against his better judgement.

    Interesting! These flags are the 15 star and 15 stripe “Star Spangled Banner” flags like the one that flew over Fort McHenry during the War of 1812 that inspired Francis Scott Key. That was 36 years after Independence Day…

    Do English people really get in on an American holiday like that? I wonder what it means to them. Are they doing it tongue-in-cheek, ironically, or is it an “all is forgiven, let’s just party” sort of thing?

    NY, NJ, Delaware and PA were German, Dutch, and Swiss colonies for well over a generation and somewhat peacefully coexisted with the local native Lenape up and down the Hudson and Delaware rivers. Iron, Furs, good soil, giant hemlock trees and river access made the area a strategic and profitable enough location to spawn a war or two across the pond.

    I don’t think Andy really cares about the Fourth of July, but hey he might get lucky and there’ll be an American in the pub who will buy him a drink.

    Well this strip certainly caught my eye today! I have a distant cousin in Wilmington, North Carolina and I tagged her in a Facebook status last year saying “Have a great 4th of July over there. No hard feelings” Haha.

    @Afficionado

    Hey, Affie.

    Today was rather windy so I didn’t go out. It’s currently bright and sunny now.

    I’ll have to go out tomorrow to buy my chocolate Weetabix Breakfast Drink for Wednesday since the Post Office/Newsagents had none at all last week.

    I found out sometime last year that I am distantly related to a man in America who was a wanted criminal. Never told anyone this. I believe it was in the Bohemia, New York area. How do I know? If you look, I mentioned my distant cousin in the comment above. She’s called Christine and the criminal is her nephew. He had threatened to kill her daughter and her 5 grandchildren. A mentally unstable and dangerous man. Christine is originally from Bohemia, New York and I saw her share it on Facebook sometime last year. It’s bizarre. But I guess we are all related to total “wrong un’s” as we say here.

    Stay safe, stay well, stay cool and stay happy, pal.

    Considering Andy Capp is supposed to be set in London, England, why are they celebrating America’s independence?

    The flags in the 1st panel are hung wrong. When the flag is hung from the short side, the blue field should be at the upper left. Jack probably didn’t know that.

    Where are the red Solo cups? Everyone who isn’t American knows it’s not an American themed party unless you have red Solo cups.
