    ’Nox is, I suppose “equinox”.

If you think about how folks without clocks told time… and how they measured the seasons… you can easily see that things like the equinoxes and solstices… and new or full moons were of great interest. Now imagine being a subsistence person who’s trying to notice when when it IS the equinox.

More time to waste. More time to use. More time to yourself. More time with others. Hopefully you have more some time to choose what to do.

Stonehenge is much older than the time of the Druids.

The meter only works if “Druid” is one syllable.

Solstice to ‘nox hadn’t changed in my lifetime; but the cultural definition of summer has by association to activities.

The once tradition of Memorial Day to Labor Day as summer season got linked to school calendars ; but failed to account for mandated days (now hours in some states) in class. Public schools and universities were soon at odds then they broke the Labor Day trust and its now every man for herself.

Mallett is no different in ignoring regional climates.

I wonder what would happen if Caulfield met up with Huey and Riley from Boondocks?

That is why mid-summer is the Historically, the day making the midpoint of the growing season, halfway between planting and harvest. It is traditionally known as one of four “Quarter Days” in some cultures. Pretty much the Growing Season from ‘Nox to ’Nox.Mox Nix, right? Thank you Willy Shakespeare and Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Sorry, all that really matters for kids is the school calendar.

And yet there’s never enough time to do all the nothing you want.

“‘Nox,” = Equinox. Took me a moment. Stupid search wanted me to think nitrous oxide.

As Flanders (of Flanders and Swan) puts it, channeling a neolithic dude, “It’s awfully big, for a calendar”.

Last time, there was a discussion with Frazz about “Into Thin Air.” I wonder what book Caufield put down before doing his swinging poetry?!!

I’m sorry, but I’m quite sure the druids had nothing to do with it. Oh, pardon me for being technical about something poetic.
