Theme of the week seems to be the large dollars in pro sports but the leagues figured it out long ago they need to price themselves as premium products in order to generate larger incomes. Bruce McNall explained it to the NHL when he bought the LA Kings in the early ‘90s. He was a con-man of course but the principle held true.
Well it’s the dumb owners who set up the rules on fining, while the players and agents get to talk non-stop.All the dolts are doing is handicapping themselves.
In 1927,ex-heavy champ Jack Dempsey was fighting future heavychamp Jack Sharkey for the right to get a rematch with Gene Tunney(which turned out to be the “Long Count” fight).
It was even for six rounds. In the 7th,Dempsey was landing body shots and Sharkey dropped his hands and complained to the ref that he was being hit low.Problem is…nobody had called “Time Out”.
Dempsey hit Sharkey with a combination to the jaw that laid him out cold.
40 years later,Dempsey wrote in his memoirs—-“What was I supposed to do,write him a letter first?”

Most i nteresting result of “trade deadline day” to me is that ex-Met Noel Syndergaard is now with the Philadelphia Phillies.
That ought to liven up the NL East.(Syndergaard was pitching well for the LA ANGELS

I see that the new Browns QB will not be allowed to play for 6 games. Wonder if that includes pre season games?
