I almost grabbed a leaf off my front tree that was half green and half yellow, with the division vertical. I wanted to give it to my granddaughter. I forgot, then went the next day to get it and it was all yellow. They change fast sometimes!
Most of our California fauna remains green year around, but around Thanksgiving when it starts getting REAL cold, a particular type of tree ’s leaves become bright golds, russets and purples. So we get SOME leaves turning.

The falling leaves
Drift by my window
The autumn leaves
Of red and gold
I see your lips
The summer kisses
The sunburned hands
I used to hold
Since you went away
The days grow long
And soon I’ll hear
Old winter’s song
But I miss you most of all, my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall
Since you went away
The days grow long
And soon I’ll hear
Old winter’s song
But I miss you most of all, my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall
Yes, I miss you most of all, my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall
